The Talk

The Confidence Shift: Your Experience Isn’t a Relic. It’s Leverage.

As AI reshapes the workplace, experienced professionals are asking a question few feel comfortable saying out loud: Will the expertise I’ve spent twenty years building still matter?

That uncertainty can affect confidence, engagement, and willingness to embrace new technology. And for organizations, it raises an equally important question: How do you retain and empower experienced talent when the rules of work are changing?

The Confidence Shift begins with a fundamental belief: confidence comes from trusting your own judgment, especially when the path forward is uncertain. In an AI-driven workplace, that self-trust matters more than ever.

This isn’t another AI tutorial or motivational keynote. It’s a strategic conversation about recognizing the value of your experience, trusting the judgment you’ve spent decades developing, and using both to navigate change with confidence.

What Attendees Leave With

  • A clearer understanding of their value. How to recognize the judgment, experience, and expertise that extend beyond their job descriptions.
  • A new perspective on AI. How to distinguish tasks being automated from the human judgment needed to guide decisions and evaluate outcomes.
  • Three practical AI prompts. Simple exercises they can use immediately to explore how AI can support their existing expertise, with no prior experience required.
  • A copy of The Confidence Shift. A practical resource for strengthening self-trust and making confident decisions through change.
  • Access to the five-minute Relief Audit. A guided assessment to help identify where they stand and explore their next pathway.

Why This Perspective Matters

I’ve spent more than twenty years in banking, finance, and professional services, including roles at Stephens, EY, Fiserv, and Silicon Valley Bank.

In 2023, I experienced the disruption firsthand when I was laid off after two decades in Corporate America. What followed was a two-year journey of navigating an unfamiliar AI-driven landscape, learning new tools, and discovering how to translate decades of professional experience into new opportunities.

I understand the uncertainty experienced professionals face because I’ve navigated it myself.

Today, as founder of Sovereign Advisory Co. and author of The Confidence Shift, I bring that lived experience and a strategic advisory perspective to conversations about workforce relevance, confidence, and change.

Your experience hasn’t expired. The way you position and apply it must evolve.

How ERG leaders fund this

A standalone speaker fee is a line item you have to defend. Books for your members usually are not.

Every package includes physical copies of The Confidence Shift for attendees, which means a meaningful share of the spend sits in a category most organisations already fund — professional development materials, ERG member resources, or an existing book-program budget. For many of the leaders I work with, that is the difference between a request that stalls and one that clears in a week.

If it helps to have the split written out for your finance partner, ask and I will put it in the proposal.

What you can report afterwards

The hardest part of running an ERG is not filling the room. It is proving, three months later, that filling the room was worth the money.

Every session closes with a QR code to the Relief Audit — a five-minute assessment that gives each attendee a personalised result. It also gives you a completion count: how many people in that room cared enough to keep going on their own time, that same evening.

That is a number you can put in a slide. It is the difference between “attendees said they enjoyed it” and evidence your programming changed what someone did next.
